A team of Standford computer scientists and professors, funded and supported by the Ethereum Foundation, the Interchain Foundation, Protocol Labs, OmiseGO, DFINITY Stiftung, and PolyChain Capital, has developed and poised to launch a five-year research program, known as the Center for Blockchain Research. The initiative is currently being led by two professors of computer science, Dan Boneh and David Mazières, at the university. In one of Stanford School of Engineering blog posts, Boneh stated that Blockchains will become increasingly significant in doing business all over the world. He further added that Stanford should be at the forefront of enhancing, utilizing, and comprehending the numerous domino effects of this technology.
